Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: S'mores
OK -It's just plain chilly today. No two ways about it. We've been spoiled with several gorgeous days in a row here in North Conway. The snow is melting by feet and feet each day (though we still have plenty left if you're planning a Spring skiing trip!) and people are beginning to see the light at the end of the long winter-tunnel. However, today we have rain, the skies are grey, and there's that chill that sits deep in your bones. So, "What better day to light a candle?" I say! Today's recipe should get you warming up just thinking about it! Imagine this: it's the middle of summer, you're gathered around a fire pit in the backyard with a bunch of friends, late in the evening, making S'mores. Mmmmmm.... Why not pour a glass of champagne to go with them? (It's nearly a hard and fast rule with the Soyfire staff that S'mores and champagne go together like peas & carrots!)
Now all you have to do to get that yummy aroma filling up the house is to combine Beanpod's Chocolate, Whipped Cream, & Graham Cracker soy beads in your melter and warm them up. Viola, it's feeling like summer already!
A Note About Our Sister Store
Many of you who have been lucky enough to visit our flagship store in the Mount Washington Valley are also familiar with our sister-store, the Framed Art Superstore. You'll remember them for their tremendous selection of art, crazy discounts, and - of course - their mascots: Zeus & Zack, the two black labs. Well, after nine years on Route 16 here in North Conway, they moved into North Conway village last October. Well, they're getting ready to do it again, but don't worry, they aren't going too far! Read more about it by clicking here and be sure to visit us both next time you're in the north country. (And if you bring a few dog treats, I know a couple of puppies who will be your new best friends!)

Hang a Bean Air Fresheners - Still going strong!
Just an update, here. We got our new Beanpod Candle "Hang a Bean" Air fresheners in our flagship North Conway store a little over a month ago and I am quite impressed! As noted, I promptly placed a Raspberry Lemonade hang a bean in my husband's car and an Earthly Embrace in mine and both of them are still wonderfully fragrant each and every time we enter our vehicles. These things last a good long time!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Is there anything more decadent than chocolate covered strawberries? As faithful readers may have guessed by now, I am a sucker for the sweet, bakery scents. This is definitely one of my favorites, and it's elegant in its simplicity. Start with Beanpod's Strawberry Cream candle and season it with a sprinkle of Beanpod's Chocolate soy beads. Now if you can just grab a glass of champagne and find someone to massage your feet you are going to be in heaven!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Sangria
Today's recipe involves "seasoning," where instead of using a traditional bead melter, you sprinkle the soy beads directly onto a jar candle. This is gives a temporary scent infusion to your candle and mixes the different scents together for a layer. For instance, to make the scent of Sangria, start with Beanpod's Raspberry Lemonade candle and sprinkle about a teaspoon or so of Fruit Slices soy beads directly on top. Once lit, the two scents will blend together until that layer of wax burns off. At that point, you can add more Fruit Slices soy beads, or just enjoy the pure scent of Raspberry Lemonade straight. It's your choice!
Spring has come and we're all a-twitter!
Want to be in even more contact with us folks at Soyfire? Here's your chance! We're now on Facebook and Twitter! You can be up on the latest goings on at our flagship store by becoming a friend or a fan of Soyfire. Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Lemon Meringue Pie
Here's another idea for using this month's Beanpod Candle Fragrance of the Month, Lemon Citrus. Why not make a yummy Lemon Meringue Pie? All you need is to mix some of Beanpod's Graham Cracker, Whipped Cream, and Lemon Citrus soy beads into your favorite warmer or melter and you have the perfect sweet, scrumptious smell of a lemon meringue pie fresh from the oven.

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Easter Basket
Hippity Hoppity Easter's on its way! Today's recipe is a little different. Instead of a traditional soy bead-based recipe, I thought it would be fun to do one specifically designed around burning different scents of votives. You see, I think there needs to be something to give adults for Easter! Not all of us are really all that interested in a basket chock full of candy anymore. But how about an Easter basket, complete with plastic grass, filled with a variety of Spring colored Beanpod Candle votives? It's just as festive as a basket of colored eggs or brightly wrapped candies, but it smells a whole lot better! To fill your basket with the right colors and scent combination, try this: one each of Fruit Slices, Honeydew Melon, Lemon, Strawberry Cream, Plumeria, Lavender, Lime Cooler & Ocean Mist. It's a beautiful array of pastel colors and they scents mix to create a fresh, Springy bouquet!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Chocolate Orange
It's easy to get carried away with making recipes with Beanpod's bakery and bistro scents. So many delicious combinations! Here's a sort of unusual combination: Chocolate & Orange. It smells just like that scrumptious candy you see often around the Holidays. It's tart and sweet all at the same time - a perfect combination! So, to achieve this scent, simply burn Beanpod's Chocolate soy beads along with Beanpod's Fruit Slices soy beads. A perfect scent for Easter!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Spring Bouquet
Happy Spring!
It may not quite be the right weather for riding your bike in your short sleeves here in North Conway, but it IS officially Spring and with that comes today's recipe: Spring bouquet. To create this fresh, sweet scent just start with Beanpod's Earthly Embrace candle and sprinkle a small amount of Lilac beads on top. This is called "seasoning" a candle. It's a fun way to add a temporary scent infusion and change up your favorite scent. As the scent of the lilac fades as the candle burns, just add a few more beads!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Lime in the Coconut
"You put the lime in the coconut..."
Remember that old song? (You're going to be singing it all day now!) Another of "Brand Y's" popular scents which I get requests for is Coconut Lime Verbena, and if that's the scent you love you can get it without the toxins, soot, or extra cost! Simply burn Beanpod Candle's Lime Cooler candle and "season" it with Beach Walk soy beads. It's the perfect blend of Lime & Coconut with all the benefits of burning all natural soy candles.

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Fruit Cooler
I like to change my scents by the season. Fall is the time for sweet scents, Winter is time for clean scents and Spring - for me - is time for Citrus scents. There's nothing better than the fresh, sweet scents of lemon, lime, grapefruit, tangerine and orange mixed with sunshine and melting snow to give me that little boost I need after a long winter. In that spirit, I give you today's recipe: mix Raspberry Lemonade, Lime Cooler, and Fruit Slices soy beads together in your favorite melter and enjoy!
And don't feel as though you are left out of the fun if for some strange reason you aren't yet a fan of bead melters. You can always enjoy any of the recipes we post here by simply burning a Beanpod candle of each scent at the same time in the same space. Easy as that!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Coastal Garden
So, it's well known that Irving Berlin wrote "White Christmas" while stationed in the South Pacific during the war. Makes perfect sense to me! You always dream about what you don't have - and with that in mind, today as the snow slowly melts and the earth thaws I find myself dreaming of a coastal garden. I can just feel the gentle breezes, hear the sound of the tide ebbing and flowing, and smell the sweet smell of saltwater mixed with summer flowers in bloom. OK, to be fair, I jacked up the thermostat, turned my fan on low, and burned one Ocean Mist candle, one Lilac candle & one Earthly Embrace candle at the same time. Hey, you do what you can when you're waiting for Spring to hit New Hampshire! It's my own private Beanpod Candle oasis and I didn't even need to buy plane tickets!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Chocolate Waffles
Mmmmmm.... waffles. Is there a more indulgent breakfast food out there? There's a lot to be said for the scent of a big, fat Belgian waffle drenched in chocolate syrup. It makes me think of lazy Christmas mornings after all the presents have been unwrapped, but long before everything has been cleaned up, everyone is still in PJs, and the waffle iron is heating up on the kitchen counter. Now how about we capture that feeling without any of the mess, effort or - more importantly - calories? Easy! Just burn Beanpod's Belgian Waffles candle with a few Chocolate and Whipped Cream soy beads on top and there you have it.
Mmmmmm..... waffles!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Sweet Dreams
There's nothing like a good night's sleep... you wake rested, relaxed and ready to take on the world. But how can you achieve that calm when you are awake? Well, try this little combination: Start with a Lavender candle, and season it with Fresh Linen and Clarity soy beads - or skip the beads all together and just burn a votive candle of each scent at the same time in the same location. The scents will mingle just as they would in a soy bead metler and you get the same scent result. Whichever way you choose, this recipe is designed to ease your tensions and soothe your frayed nerves. When you can't get a full 8 hours in, try this instead!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Spring Meadow
Spring will arrive eventually. That's what people keep telling me, anyway.
We had two gorgeous days in a row this week in the Mt. Washington Valley. It seemed as if we had turned a corner and that it was nothing but blue skies and sunshine ahead of us. This morning it's 30 degrees and snowing and it's supposed to keep going for the next two days. Good news for Spring skiers heading to Tuckerman's Ravine, but discouraging for those of us who need a little Spring pick-me-up. So, if you can't get it naturally, invent it, I say! Since we haven't yet had the joyous sensation of smelling thawing earth and new grass growing, I decided to make a recipe that replicates it. Simply mix Morning Glory, Bonsai Tree, and our brand new scent Aloe Vera in your bead melter, turn up the heat in the house a bit and pretend that you're a little closer to Spring than you may be!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Fresh Air
Have you tried our fragrance of the month yet? Well, not only is Beanpod's Lemon Citrus a fine scent all on its own, but you can also have a lot of fun with it, too! So many scents can be combined with Lemon Citrus to create amazing recipes! Of course, there are plenty of wonderful bakery and fruit scents which compliment it, but did you know that Lemon is also a potent odor eliminator? In fact, if you burn Lemon Citrus in combination with Lavender, you can knock out some pretty powerful odors that might be lingering around the house! Perhaps you have a four legged friend who is in need of a bath - or a two legged friend who hasn't quite made amends with quitting a certain nasty habit. Maybe your house just gets a bit musty over the winter without being able to open your windows. Whatever your aim, these two scents burned together will restore your room to a fresh-smelling haven for all to enjoy!

The Sense of Scents
Choosing the right scent for your candle can do more than just make your home smell nice, it can also make you feel more energetic, or relaxed, more nostalgic or ambitious.
So what scent is right for you? It is such a personal decision as to what you like but here are some hints as to why you might find certain scents more appealing. If you want a room to be more relaxing, try one of our calming fragrances. Lavender is renowned for it soothing properties, or perhaps try the mellowness of Serenity or Harmony. If you feel nostalgic for simpler times, try one with warm, sweet overtones like Oatmeal Cookies or Apple pie. Need something to energize you and get you motivated to tackle your day? Citrus scents will energize you and help to keep you clear headed. My favorites are Pink Grapefruit and Lemon Citrus (which just happens to be the scent of the month!)

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Zen
Can't we all use a little Zen every now and again?
I know I can! One of the nicest benefits of burning Beanpod's soy candles is that they are a cheap form of stress-relief! They're non-habit forming, you don't need a doctor's prescription, and the only side effect is a fabulous smelling house! So if you're having one of those "Serenity now!" kind of days, try this recipe on for size: Combine Clarity, Serenity, and Harmony scented soy beads in your favorite melter and repeat after me: "Ohm. Ohm. Ohm."

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Chocolate Chip Cookies
We avoided getting the full foot of snow that was forcasted for yesterday, but Spring is still seeming far away today, so I'm sticking with the warm, sweet scents of winter today... and what goes better with yesterday's Almond Joy than some fresh from the oven Chocolate Chip Cookies? Nothing I can think of! So here's your recipe for today: burn Beanpod's Oatmeal Cookies candle and "season" it with Chocolate and Whipped Cream soy beads. It's all of the indulgence with none of the calories!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: Almond Joy
It's another cold, snowy day here in North Conway. We've had a long, hard winter and March is already proving to be no exception. Another foot of snow is falling on us today and Spring seems even further away. So today I've decided to embrace it and think warm, sweet thoughts. And that leads me to today's recipe of the day: Almond Joy. Now if you like, you can think of the scrumptious candy bar, but on such a chily day, I prefer to think of my favorite winter drink: Hot Chocolate with a little Malibu rum and Amaretto liquor. Warms you right up! So to get that feeling with out the buzz (I am at work) I recommend burning Beanpod's Angel Amaretto candle and seasoning it with Chocolate and Beach Walk (coconut) soy beads on top. Mmmmmmm.... I'm feeling warmer just thinking about it!

Beanpod Soy Candle Recipe of the Day: There's No Place Like Home
So many of our customers are converted "Brand Y" burners. Time after time, we hear how much more these customers prefer Beanpod Candles: "they burn so much cleaner," " they cost so much less," "I'll never go back to 'Brand Y'!" However, sometimes despite all the benefits of switching to Beanpod, there is still a fragrance that "Brand Y" carried which Beanpod does not which our customers are sad to do without. But, with the magic of soy beads, most any scent can be replicated!
Perhaps the "Brand Y" scent I hear most often asked for by name is "Home Sweet Home." Well, thanks to a little snooping and a lot of sniffing, I have come up with a pretty spot-on recipe: simply combine Plumeria and Cinnamon Spice and viola! You have what we have dubbed "There's No Place Like Home!" It''s every bit as clean, warm and welcoming as "Brand Y's," but made with Beanpod's all-natural, biodegradable soy wax. Have another scent you're looking for which Beanpod doesn't make? Let us know and we'll see what we can "cook up!"
